5 destinations we would love to revisit

Isn’t it funny how some places stick with you long after you’ve departed, while others don’t? Who knows why – maybe it was the food, the people, the landscape, or just the vibe of a place. While we love to explore new travel destinations, we would love revisit some places that we’ve fallen in love with, and fall for them all over again.

Being invited to take part in a promotion by Booked.netTop Destinations to Go There brought back many happy memories of our favourite destinations – and we wondered why we hadn’t written this post before now!

1. Myanmar

Beautiful, friendly people, golden temples, and amazing landscapes – Myanmar has it all. Myanmar is the #1 destination we’d love to return to because not only is it a beautiful country in so many ways, but we learned so much about the country and also about ourselves while we were there. It’s like no other place we have been to before.

2. New York City, USA

Ahh, the Big Apple. NYC is a vibrant, exciting city that never fails to amaze us. We loved that there was always something happening around every corner, and the melting pot of cultures, food, and neighbourhoods fascinated us! It really is the centre of the world.

3. Kahurangi National Park, New Zealand

One of our favourite spots in New Zealand, Kahurangi National Park was an unexpected delight that we discovered while on a South Island road trip a few years back. Camping as far north as you can drive on the West Coast of the South Island was idyllic (apart from the sandflies!), and the tannin-stained rivers and limestone caves in the Oparara Basin were like something out of a mythical land.

4. Rome, Italy

La Bella Italia. Rome is an ancient but modern city that never fails to fascinate. We loved Rome’s hidden surprises – the colourful streets of Trastevere, a multitude of gelato flavours in Centro Storico, and the vibrant markets in Campo di Fiori. Rome has a buzz like nowhere else we have been, and the scrumptious food is pretty hard to beat!

5. Koh Tao, Thailand

All of Thailand calls to us, but no place more so than the little island of Koh Tao. It holds a special place in our hearts as we got engaged there last year, and it’s such a pretty, relaxed place to while away the days. Koh Tao has such a successful combination of great beaches, delicious food, and epic diving!

Thanks to Christie from The Butterfly Editions for nominating us for this promotion! We nominate Ashlea from A Globe Well Travelled, Laura & Chris from The Wanderlust Chapter, Jessica & Hai from Notes of Nomads, Elles from Completely Gone Nomad, and Emily from Let’s Roam Wild.

Where is your #1 destination to revisit? We’d love to know – we’re always looking for more places to add to our bucket list.

P&S xx

  1. So many wonderful places in this world of ours! I’m rather partial to Kahurangi National Park too, as its not too far from my hometown of Nelson 🙂 I’ve never visited Myanmar or New York but they are both right up the top of my travel wish list. Everybody who goes seems to love Koh Tao, so I’m super excited to be heading there for the first time in two weeks time and seeing what this perfect little island is all about! So lovely that you got engaged there 🙂

Oh lucky you being from Nelson! We love it there and the top of the South Island in general. You’ll love Koh Tao, it’s such a slice of paradise! 🙂

We would love to go further south in Italy too. We didn’t make it to Amalfi so would love to go there but also all the way down to Sicily! And NYC… always calling our names. Thanks NZ Muse!

  2. Everywhere!! haha

So Many Places and so little time!!! A Lifetime is just not enough but will give it a good shot!

Some places I would love to go back to:

    * Namibia – Sossusvlei National Park, Etosha Pan and the Skeleton coast. What an awesome roadtrip we had that I will never forget!
    * Guatemala -Lake Panajachel – Lake Atitlan – – We went to Sought America for a year and could have moved in here for the whole year!
*Zanzibar – Where the pirates and the spices mingle down the cobblestone paths.
*Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach – Thailand – been going to this tiny little paradise for 35 years and its still the best!
*Barcelona – La Rambla is the most exciting street in Europe. Get yourself a goldfish bowl of Sangria and get ready to be entertained!

Arrrr – just makes me want to get on the next plane 🙂

I know right?! There’s just not enough time to do everything – go back to old places and see new ones too! Aww your list sounds amazing… Wish we could win lotto and go everywhere!
