A Snapshot of Vancouver, Canada

Vancouver is one of the world’s most liveable cities. That’s one reason why we decided to move here when planning our working holiday in Canada. The sea, the mountains, and the abundance of things to do in and around Vancouver caught our attention!

We’ve been in Vancouver for about a month now and have explored some different parts of the city. Although with starting new jobs and getting settled in we haven’t done as much as we would have liked to so far, but we will get there!

Here are some snapshots of what we’ve been up to over the last little while. See below the photos for some of our favourite things to do in Vancouver so far!

Granville Island is a must-do for any visitor to Vancouver. It’s cheap to get there via the cute False Creek Ferries, and the Public Market is a treat for the senses – perfect fruit and vegetables, great coffee and sandwiches, and lots of local goodies.

Gastown is also another fun part of the city to explore. It’s Vancouver’s historical heart so you can expect cobbled streets, old brick buildings, and the famous ‘steam-powered clock’ (which is actually powered by electricity). There are heaps of great coffee shops and little boutiques to keep you happy.

We loved walking around the trendy area of Yaletown, towards the south-eastern end of downtown. There’s lots of converted warehouses, great bars and restaurants, and the harbour is close by too. It’s a great place to go for brunch!

Of course, no visit to Vancouver would be complete without visiting Stanley Park, Vancouver’s 1000 acre public park on the end of the West End. We are yet to walk the 9 km around the edge of Stanley Park along the seawall, but we plan to do this very soon! The park is beautiful and it’s nice to get a respite from all the buildings in the city. Stanley Park was named the best park in the world on Trip Advisor this year!

We’re really enjoying living in Vancouver so far, and we are looking forward to seeing more of the city.

P&S xx
